Amharic for Youth
Speaking Amharic(แ แแญแ แแแแแญ),Fidel(แแฐแ), reading(แแแ แฅ), writing(แแปแ), short stories(แฐแจแถแฝ), and cultural learning for diaspora-born children and youth.
Who is this for?
This program is designed mainly for children and youth born or raised outside Ethiopia and Eritrea who want to learn or strengthen Amharic or Tigrinya.
Learners may join as beginners or continue at a higher level depending on their current speaking, reading, and writing ability.
How classes work
Classes are planned as online lessons with flexible learning support. Students may learn one-to-one or in small groups of about 10 to 15 learners.
Lessons may include live teaching, pronunciation practice, visual slides, audio practice, worksheets, short stories, and simple quizzes.
3 Learning Levels
Beginner
Basic greetings, family words, common phrases, Fidel recognition, pronunciation, and simple conversation.
Intermediate
Reading short texts, writing practice, vocabulary building, listening, retelling, and cultural stories.
Advanced
Stronger conversation, paragraph reading, storytelling, writing, presentation practice, and confidence in language use.
12-Week Lesson Structure Per Level
Each level is planned as its own 12-week course. The goal is steady progress, confidence, and practical language use โ not perfection.

Expected Outcomes
Beginner Outcome
Learners may recognize basic Fidel, greet others, introduce themselves, understand simple words, and use beginner phrases.
Intermediate Outcome
Learners may read short texts, write simple sentences, understand short stories, and participate in guided conversations.
Advanced Outcome
Learners may speak with more confidence, read longer passages, write short paragraphs, discuss cultural topics, and present ideas.
